Why Your Tech Skills Have a Kingdom Purpose
Have you ever wondered
if your tech skills really matter to God?
Maybe you've sat
behind a laptop writing code, designing a logo, editing a video, or building an
app — and a quiet question crept in: "Does this count for the
Kingdom?"
The answer is a
resounding yes.
From the very first
page of the Scriptures, we see God as a Creator. He didn't just make the world
functional — He made it beautiful. He filled it with colour, sound, texture,
and life. Then He did something remarkable: He made you in His image (Genesis
1:27).
That means creativity
is not something you do on the side. It is part of who you are.
Many Christian
creatives grow up believing that "spiritual work" is limited to
preaching, praying, or leading worship — while tech, design, and business are
somehow "secular."
But that divide
doesn't exist in God's eyes. The same Spirit who fills a preacher also fills a
programmer. The same God who inspires a worship leader also inspires a UI
designer.
Your tech skills are
not a distraction from your calling. They are part of it.
In Exodus 31, God
calls a man named Bezalel and fills him with the Holy Spirit — "in wisdom,
and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship"
(Exodus 31:3).
Bezalel wasn't a
prophet. He was a craftsman. Yet God filled him with His Spirit to build
something beautiful for His house.
If God filled a
craftsman with His Spirit then, He can fill you with His Spirit now — for the
code you write, the designs you create, and the products you build.
Romans 8:19 says, "For
the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the
sons of God."
Creation is waiting
for believers to step into their purpose. The world needs Spirit-led
developers, designers, storytellers, and innovators — people who build with
excellence and point to Jesus Christ in the process.
"The desire to
create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul." — Dieter F. Uchtdorf
So don't hide your
gift. Don't despise your skill. Don't wait for permission.
You were created to
create. Your tech skills have a Kingdom purpose. Now go build something that
outlasts you.
